Windows 95 - Setup Instructions
1. Once in Windows 95, close all programs running in the background.
2. On the desktop screen, click on the [Start], then [Programs], then [Accessories],
and finally [Internet Tools].
2a. If you can't find the [Internet Tools], please give us a call for an alternate way of
setting up your account.
3. At the [Internet Tools], select the [Internet Setup Wizard] or [Get on the
Internet].
4. The first screen is "Welcome to Internet Setup", click on the [Next]
button.
5. On the screen "How to Connect", select "Connect Using My Phone
Line" and click on the [Next] button.
5a. (Note: depending on your system configuration, you may not come across the
"How to Connect" screen)
5b. If you haven't done the modem setup in your Windows 95, a setup screen pops up
and guides you to do the modem setup.
6. You may come across another "How to Connect" screen. This is where it will
ask you "How Do You Want to Connect to the Internet?"
7. Select "I already have an account with a different services provider",
click [Next].
8. The next screen is "Internet Mail", select "Yes" if you want
to use MS Exchange for the Internet Mail, click [Next].
9. Depending on the system configuration, Windows 95 may ask you to insert Windows
95 CD into your CD-ROM. Install some files into your system.
10. The next screen "Service Provider Information" should pop up. Type
"ArdenNet" as the name of service provider.
11. Next is "Phone Number", type in your Internet connection phone number
(see your account information sheet).
12. On the same screen of "Phone Number", there is a check box called
"Bring up terminal window after dialing". Leave it "unchecked". Click
[Next].
13. The next screen is "User Name and Password", type in your <Login
id> as the "User name" (i.e. i123456).
14. Type in your <Login Password> as the "Password" (i.e.
ABCD123456), click [Next].
14a. (Note: all alphabets need to be in upper case)
15. Next screen is "IP Address", select "My Internet Service Provider
automatically assigns me one.", click [Next].
16. On "DNS Server Address", type "0.0.0.0" for both Primary
Domain Name Server and Secondary Domain Name Server. This will cause a dynamic DNS server
being assigned to you when connected.
17. On "Internet Mail", type in your e-mail address on the "Your
Email address" (i.e. info@ardennet.com).
17a. If you do not select MS Exchange for your Internet mail (refer to #8), you may not
come across this screen.
18. Type in the SMTP server name for the "Internet mail server" (see your
account information sheet).
18a. If the profile is named "Internet Mail Settings" already, click [next]
(jump to #21.)
19. On "Exchange Profile", if the default profile is "MS Exchange
Settings", click on the [New] button. Type "Internet Mail Settings" for the
profile name, click [OK].
20. Finally, you should reach the screen called "Finished Setup", and you
are done with the basic setup of your Internet account.
21. Click [Finish].
22. You may be asked to restart your computer.
23. After restarting your computer double click on the [My Computer] icon.
24. Now double click on the [Dial-up Networking] icon.
25. You should have two icons there, one of those should say either "my
connection or "ardennet", right click on that one and move the cursor on to
"Properties" and click with the LEFT mouse button.
26. Now click on [Server Type].
27. Now you will see many options that are checked or unchecked, leave all unchecked
except "Log on to Network" and "TCP/IP".
28. Click OK till you see the "My Computer" folder and exit that.
Now restart your computer, after restarting your computer, you can click on the
"Internet" icon for making the connection. Once you are on-line, try to go to
our web site, which is "http://www.ardennet.com".
29. As a suggestion, you may want to download the latest version of Internet Browser
for your system. You can do that by visiting our web site and click on the
"best-view" icons on our web page.
